Twin earthquakes strike Caspian Sea region

Tengrinews.kz - Two consecutive earthquakes were recorded in the Caspian Sea, according to Lada.kz, citing the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.

Tengrinews.kz - Two consecutive earthquakes were recorded in the Caspian Sea, according to Lada.kz, citing the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.

According to experts, the first earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.1, was recorded during the night of October 19 at 2:02 AM. The second tremor, of a similar magnitude, occurred around noon at 11:39 AM. Both epicenters were located at a depth of 68 kilometers.

Earlier, an earthquake was reported near Kazakhstan’s border. The National Center for Seismic Data of Kazakhstan (NCSRK) registered a quake on October 19, 2024, at 1:32 AM Astana time, in Uzbekistan, approximately 669 kilometers southwest of Almaty. No seismic activity was felt within Kazakhstan.

Recently, Residents of Almaty felt a mild earthquake with a magnitude of 2.
