Tengrinews.kz — The Altyn-Emel National Park has shared an atmospheric video on its Instagram page. Tengrinews.kz reached out to the video's creator to learn more about its production.

Altyn-Emel regularly posts videos taken by travelers on its Instagram page, and this time, it posted a video created by 26-year-old Serik Bekmuratov. The footage, captured by the young man, could easily be mistaken for scenes from Denis Villeneuve's film "Dune."

Bekmuratov shared that he shot the footage back in mid-August but only recently decided to post it.

"This place is called the Singing Dunes. I’ve only just started filming with a drone, and I’m passionate about our country’s nature. Since I live and work in Taldykorgan, I decided to begin by showcasing locations close to the city. I’d like to travel across all of Kazakhstan in the future," he said.

The national park's website notes that the Singing Dunes are "mountains of pure quartz sand without vegetation, with a steep slope."

"When dry sand moves, the grains of sand rub against each other, which produces a lingering, loud sound, similar to low singing. That is why they were named "Singing Sands". Such a rare natural phenomenon has been noted in only a few places in the world. The Singing Dunes are one of the 7 natural wonders of Kazakhstan which were included in the list of nominees for the global competition "7 new wonders of nature" held in 2007-2011. The Singing Dunes have the status of the Nationally Significant Natural Monument,” states the National Park website.

Altyn-Emel National Park is located in the southeastern part of Kazakhstan, within the boundaries of the Kerbulak and Panfilov districts of the Zhetysu region, 180 kilometers from Taldykorgan and 250 kilometers from Almaty.

Earlier, a flock of gray flamingos has arrived at Lake Karakol near Aktau.
