Tengrinews.kz - A strong M-class solar flare was recorded on the Sun early in the morning on February 23, according to the Fedorov Institute of Applied Geophysics (IAG).
According to the institute, the M4.9 flare lasted for 23 minutes.
It is noted that solar flares are classified into five categories based on their intensity: A, B, C, M, and X. The lowest activity level, A0.0, corresponds to radiation power at Earth's orbit of 10 nanowatts per square meter. With each class transition, the power increases tenfold.
According to the space weather forecast for February 23-25, another flare, possibly of the highest X-class, cannot be ruled out. A deterioration in HF radio communication conditions is expected at certain hours of the day.
It is worth recalling that the first X-class flare of 2025 occurred on the Sun in January.
