Tengrinews.kz – Residents of Almaty once again witnessed an unusual phenomenon in the night sky. A bright chain of lights, moving strictly along one line, attracted the attention of city residents and caused lively discussions. Eyewitnesses managed to capture this spectacle and are wondering what it was, and our reader sent us a video.
Early in the morning, February 23, at 5:15 AM, Tengrinews.kz reader Alexey P. witnessed a fascinating spectacle in the sky over Almaty. Bright lights, lined up in an ideal line, slowly rose above the horizon, creating a fantastic and mysterious picture.
What was that
According to Space.com, this spectacle is none other than the Starlink satellite "train" — the result of another SpaceX launch. After entering orbit, the satellites move in a tight group before taking up their working positions. While they are still low, they can be seen with the naked eye as a glowing chain, like a necklace in the night sky. Over time, they dissipate and become almost invisible.
Such technical phenomena sometimes cause controversy among astronomers due to their impact on scientific observations. But for ordinary people, they remain a fascinating reminder of how quickly technology is changing the world around us.
