Tengrinews.kz – A camera trap in Sayram-Ugam National Park has captured rare footage of a Tien Shan brown bear with her cubs roaming freely in their natural habitat. Experts say such recordings not only provide unique glimpses into wildlife but also help gather valuable monitoring data.

The video, published on the park’s official Instagram account, shows a touching scene of a mother bear accompanied by two cubs. Park officials noted that moments like these are rarely recorded in the wild.

According to monitoring results, the population of rare species such as the snow leopard, Tien Shan brown bear, and Karatau argali has been steadily growing in recent years. Conservationists attribute this to effective protective measures and favorable ecological conditions in the region.

“Positive changes have become possible thanks to the work of rangers and inspectors, who prevent poaching, protect animal habitats, and safeguard the natural balance,” the park administration said.

The Tien Shan brown bear, listed in Kazakhstan’s Red Book of endangered species, inhabits the mountain ranges of the Tien Shan. A spring census recorded 105 individuals within the park, confirming population growth.

Sayram-Ugam National Park is home to 59 species of mammals, 10 of which are listed in the Red Book. These include Menzbier’s marmot, the white-bellied long-eared bat, the Tien Shan brown bear, stone marten, snow leopard, Turkestan lynx, Karatau argali, and the Indian porcupine.
