Tengrinews.kz – A mesmerizing drone video of a Siberian roe deer roaming through the Almaty Nature Reserve has captured the attention of social media users.
The footage, posted on the official Instagram page of the reserve, showcases the graceful animal moving through mountainous forest terrain.
According to the reserve's staff, the Siberian roe deer (Capreolus pygargus) is one of 41 mammal species found in the area. It is considered an indicator species for the reserve’s ecosystem, reflecting the overall health and biodiversity of the region.
"This deer lives at elevations ranging from 1,200 to 3,000 meters above sea level in mixed, deciduous, and coniferous forests, as well as subalpine and alpine zones. It can climb up to 3,000 meters when crossing from one gorge to another," the reserve explained.

Roe deer feed on a variety of plant species native to the reserve and are most active during the early morning, evening, and nighttime hours.
"Fawns stay close to their mothers after birth, while adult males tend to live solitary lives. Roe deer give birth in May, and for the first week, the fawns lie motionless in the grass to remain hidden. In summer, deer typically live alone, but from winter through spring, they gather in small groups," the staff added.
Earlier this year, camera traps in Charyn National Park captured images of goitered gazelles (Gazella subgutturosa), a species listed in Kazakhstan's Red Book. These rare glimpses of wildlife serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of protecting natural habitats and ensuring safe environments for wild animals.
