Tengrinews.kz – A jackal was caught on camera in the Altyn-Emel National Park. A video of the predator has appeared online.
A video featuring the predator appeared online and was posted on the official Instagram account of the national park.
“The jackal (Canis aureus) is a predator widely distributed across Kazakhstan. In recent years, it has attracted the attention of scientists and ecologists due to its important role in the ecosystem,” the national park representatives noted.
It was clarified that the animal belongs to the canine family.
“This is a medium-sized animal that mainly inhabits steppe, forest, and semi-desert regions. It is most commonly found in the southern, western, and central parts of the country,” the park’s statement said.
As the organization reminded, in nature the jackal plays the role of a ‘sanitarian’ — it feeds on carrion, helping prevent the spread of diseases.
