Tengrinews.kz - Kazakh photographer Dmitry Dotsenko has once again amazed his audience with an atmospheric video. This time, he captured the last supermoon of the year in the sky above Almaty.
Dotsenko posted the video on his Instagram page, and it immediately drew attention from viewers.
“The last supermoon of 2024. Captured the moonrise against the backdrop of the Kok-Tobe TV tower! We won’t see a supermoon for an entire year, the next one will be in October 2025,” he captioned the video.
The video received hundreds of comments, with users praising the author for creating incredibly captivating content.
“Maybe some didn’t notice this phenomenon, but you not only noticed it but captured it so beautifully that it takes your breath away,” “It looks colossal and powerful. I also wanted to capture it, but sadly, I didn’t manage,” “Such incredible equipment, it must be maximum zoom, and the quality hasn’t dropped a bit! Amazing!” “A fantastic sight,” wrote people in the comments.
In a brief conversation with us, Dmitry Dotsenko clarified that he shot these frames the day before yesterday. According to him, he had prepared in advance and didn’t have to wait long for the moon to appear.
“I was waiting for the moonrise in advance, so I arrived at the location just in time. I filmed with a camera using a telephoto lens,” he added.
According to media reports, there were four supermoons in 2024. The first was on August 19, the second on September 18, the third on October 17, and the fourth on November 16. Dotsenko had previously mentioned that supermoons typically occur 3-4 times a year.
“At this time, the moon appears about 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than when it’s at its apogee (the furthest point from Earth). For a person, this is noticeable, but only a little. It also depends on where you’re observing the moon from – if you’re watching it near the horizon, it will appear the largest due to the ‘moon illusion’ effect. That’s why I recommend everyone watch moonrises and moonsets,” he had said earlier.
