Tengrinews.kz – A camera trap captured a rare representative of wildlife at the end of April in the Sairam-Ugam State National Nature Park.
Camera traps placed throughout different areas of the Sairam-Ugam National Park recorded several rare appearances of the Tian Shan brown bear. In one of the photos, the bear’s profile is clearly visible — the camera captured its face in detail. In other shots, a pair of bears is seen slowly climbing a slope, one after the other, as if in a slow, graceful dance.
In the night footage, one of the bears can be seen quietly disappearing into the darkness, blending with the shadows of the rocks.

According to the park’s Instagram account, the population of brown bears in Sairam-Ugam has shown steady growth in recent years.
"It is important to remember that this species is a predator. Therefore, park staff urge visitors to follow safety guidelines when encountering bears and to avoid any actions that could disturb the animal," the national park representatives warned.
The Tian Shan brown bear (Ursus arctos isabellinus) is a rare and protected subspecies of the brown bear, inhabiting the mountain regions of the Tian Shan and Dzungarian Alatau. It is listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This bear is notable for its impressive size: adult males can weigh up to 250 kg, while females weigh around 100 kg. It has a massive body, powerful limbs with long claws, and well-developed fangs, making it a versatile predator capable of feeding on vegetation as well as hunting large animals, including marals (Siberian red deer).
Its fur color ranges from light gray to nearly black, sometimes with reddish or sandy tones. Cubs often have light patches on their chest or neck, which fade with age.
