Tengrinews.kz - East Kazakhstan is a region rich in natural wonders and cultural attractions. A Kazakhstani recently visited Katon-Karagay and shared his impressions.
A 38-year-old resident of Ust-Kamenogorsk named Talgat went to explore the beauty of his native region. He published a video of his journey in social networks, where it immediately attracted the attention of users, gathering thousands of views.
"Nature has always attracted me, and Katon-Karagai surprised me with its landscapes, flora and fauna. Especially memorable were Belukha, Lake Equilibrium, flowering meadows, Kokkol mine and waterfall. These places struck me with their beauty," he said.
He highlighted several remarkable sites, including Mount Belukha, the highest point of the Altai Mountains, the pristine Lake Ravnok, high-altitude blooming meadows, the preserved Kokkolskiy Mine, and the largest waterfall in Eastern Kazakhstan, Kokkolskiy. These locations struck him with their natural beauty and grandeur.

Social media users were amazed by the footage, leaving comments such as:
“What beauty. Is this really Kazakhstan?” “I can’t believe it. I’d love to see this in person even for a moment.” “I’m continually amazed by the beauty of our East.” “This is paradise.” “Incredible beauty! How wonderful our land is!” “Why travel abroad when there’s such stunning nature right here in my country? My homeland is Kazakhstan.” “I also think, why go anywhere else when we have such beauty! I’ll plan a trip soon.” - commented users.
During his trip, Talgat engaged in trekking, camping, rafting on the Bukhtarma River, fishing, and horseback riding. He also enjoyed local cuisine, adding a pleasant touch to his adventure. He plans to return to Katon-Karagay to explore more cultural aspects and uncharted natural spots.
"Next time, I’d like to spend more time exploring the cultural features of the region and visit new, yet-to-be-discovered corners of nature. Traveling to remote places allows for a reset, achieving harmony with nature and oneself. It’s a great opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the silence and beauty of the natural world," he reflected.

For those planning their first trip to Katon-Karagay, Talgat advised meticulous planning, bringing necessary gear, and considering weather conditions.
"Respect nature and local traditions. The most important thing is to take all your trash with you. I recommend using reputable tour operators for a safe and comfortable journey.
A trip to East Kazakhstan can be both budget-friendly and more expensive, depending on your preferences. On average, one day may cost around 20,000 tenge," he explained.
Talgat also shared details about the costs for a trip in the region. He noted that the final amount depends on travelers' preferences. Taxi transfer from Ust-Kamenogorsk to Katon-Karagay costs approximately 7,000 tenge, while car rental starts from 15,000 tenge per day. Accommodation ranges from 6,000 tenge per person per day in a guesthouse, with eco-hotels starting from 35,000 tenge per day. Expenses related to visiting Katon-Karagay National Park should also be considered. It’s better to book a group tour that includes transfer, accommodation, meals, and excursions.
"To minimize costs, consider staying in guesthouses, cooking your own meals, and using public transport. Group tours are often cheaper and provide opportunities for new, valuable connections," he concluded.
