Tengrinews.kz – After a series of powerful solar flares at the end of April, solar activity noticeably decreased, leading to stabilization of the Earth's magnetosphere. However, this calm was only temporary.
According to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at IKI and ISZF, a new surge of solar activity is expected in early May, which will trigger geomagnetic storms.
Forecasts indicate that a full-fledged geomagnetic storm will erupt on May 2. This will be followed by a brief period of relative calm, but on May 5, 6, and 7, new solar wind impacts are expected, potentially causing a G1-level storm.
In an interview with KTK, Karlygash Kalieva, head of Clinic No. 36 in Almaty, recommended that Kazakhstani citizens prioritize rest during this period.
"Our bodies have electric fields, so these storms can affect us. Magnetic field fluctuations, occurring at a rate of 1-2 per second, match the rhythm of our heartbeat. Patients with chronic illnesses, especially those under medical observation, may feel the effects. It’s essential to alternate between work and rest, with rest being the priority during this period," Kalieva warned.
