A fire broke out in a pig complex killing several thousand pigs. An electric equipment failure and wiring problems must have cause the fire in the pig-breeding complex in Pavlodar oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Pavlodar oblast Emergency Situations Department. “According to the preliminary information, the fire in Rubikom pig-breeding complex happened because of a short circuit in the electric equipment,” the authority’s press-service writes adding that the version of arson has been excluded. According to the Department, the fire happened in a freestanding brick building of the major pig complex at night on March 5. The fire covered the area of 600 square meters and killed around 3.4 thousand pigs and piglets. Only 200 pigs were saved. “The causes of the fire and the damage are being identified,” the press-service stated.
