The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan announced the emergency on August 18 to address the aftermath of mudslides caused by heavy rains.
Both the northern and southern parts of Issyk-Kul were affected. In the villages of Saruu and Kyzyl-Suu, roads, livestock enclosures, and residential buildings were flooded. On the northern shore, yards and houses in the villages of Bulan-Sogotu, Korumdu, and Temirovka were damaged. The territory of the "Issyk-Kul Aurora" resort was also flooded.
Over 300 people and more than 10 units of special equipment have been mobilized to deal with the consequences of the mudslides in the Issyk-Kul region.
