Shopping mall under construction collapses in Karaganda, one injured

A shopping mall under construction has collapsed in Karaganda city in central Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the press office of the regional Emergency Department. The new shopping mall was being constructed at Altyn Arba market located on Bukhar Zhyrau Street.

A shopping mall under construction has collapsed in Karaganda city in central Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the press office of the regional Emergency Department. The new shopping mall was being constructed at Altyn Arba market located on Bukhar Zhyrau Street.

The incident occurred on July 10 at 12.55 p.m.. 450 square meters of horizontal slab formwork made of wood and reinforced with steel bars collapsed. “As a result of the incident, a concrete worker of Atlant Building Company born in 1981 was injured and taken to the regional medical center with a foreign body in the right eye,” the press office said.

An operational-rescue team as well as the regional fire brigade were dispatched to the site.
