Oil spilled from pipeline in North Kazakhstan

A pipe broke on the 1,056th km of oil pipeline TON-2 (Taimys-Omsk-Novosibirsk) of North-Kazakhstan Oil Pipeline Department of the Eastern branch of KazTransOil. The area of the oil spill made 1,000 sq.m, KazTAG reports citing Kazakhstan Ministry of Emergency Situations. "A 720 mm diameter oil pipeline ruptured on September 13 at 7:30 p.m. 3km from Petropavlovsk during excavation works done by Kvarts company to lay a fiber-optic line. The breakage caused an oil spill with an area of 1,000 sq.m and spilled volume of 200 cub.m,” the Ministry announced. According to the Ministry, oil flow into the emergency part of the pipeline has been stopped and the spilled oil is being removed. No casualties were reported.
