Today, November 9, Kazakhstan’s General Prosecution Office announced the details on Atyrau terrorists, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Ussabekov Meirambek, born in 1986, Kalkamanov Mirkhat, born in 1988 and Sagenov Alimzhan, born in 1983, were apprehended and fully admitted their involvement in terrorist attacks. Two more self-made bombs were discovered at the location given by Ussabekov. Deminers disposed of the explosives by blowing them up in a safe area. "The investigation revealed that this terrorist group was formed in 2009 under influence of Jihad ideas and impact of extremist preacher Said Buryatskiy, who died in the North Caucasus. The participants of the group were planning to move abroad for Jihad. The group have made 5 bombs since 2009. Required components were bought in pharmacies and markets of Atyrau. The explosives were tested in deserted areas. "This September the group established contact with members of a terrorist organizations known as Soldiers of Khalifat that was created this summer by Kazakhstan citizens Rinat Khabidolla, Orynbassar Munatov and Damir Znaliyev to promote Jihad at the territory of Kazakhstan. They are currently hiding in Afghanistan-Pakistan border area and taking part in military actions as international terrorists. "The leader of this organization, a citizen of Kazakhstan Renat Khabidolla, distributed the statements with threats to Kazakhstan on the Internet on October 25 and November 1 and later claimed responsibility for the terrorist attacks in Atyrau. We hereby confirm that the investigation proved involvement of the Soldiers of Khalifat in these blasts. "According to the apprehended group, they received instructions on organizing terrorist attacks at the territory of Kazakhstan from members of this organization. In the end of October the criminal group started implementing the plan of intimidation of law-enforcement and state authorities and decided to make explosions near Atyrau oblast administration building and prosecution office. However, the main organizers of the explosions were not aiming for human victims,” official representative of the General Prosecution Office stated. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that two explosions happened in Atyrau in the morning on October 31. The first blast was in a garbage can at Kulmanov street. An hour later a man blew himself up in Saryarka region. Islamic group Djund Al-Khalifat (Soldiers of Khalifat) claimed responsibility for both explosions. November 7 General Prosecution announced apprehension of the criminal group suspected of organizing the blasts. The group was involved in making home-made bombs to be used in "acts of intimidation" against law enforcement and other government officials.
