Tengrinews.kz - A man's heart stopped after an injection of antibiotics and subsequent anaphylactic shock in Petropavlovsk.

According to the press service of the Emergency Medical Center of the North Kazakhstan Region, the 50-year-old man fell ill after receiving Cefazolin injection.

"An emergency medical team, consisting of Zhuldyzbek Serikov and paramedic driver Rustam Kozhakhmetov, went to the call. The patient, in critical condition, went to the car with the assistance. While receiving treatment in the ambulance, circulatory arrest occurred, with asystole showing on the monitor," the center's press service reported.

The team immediately began resuscitation. According to the medical institution, the paramedic performed chest compressions, mechanical ventilation through a laryngeal mask, made an adrenaline injection, and infused saline.

"After 20 minutes of resuscitation, blood circulation was restored. The patient, with vasopressor support and on a ventilator, was transported for hospitalization in the intensive care unit of the hospital, where his condition is stable and he is under observation," the emergency medical center reported.

The medical institution emphasized that patients and their relatives should remember that uncontrolled use of antibacterial medications can lead to anaphylactic shock and circulatory arrest.

Earlier, a paramedic has been brought to trial for refusing to hospitalize a patient.
