Fire-fighters quenched fire in Ile-Alatau national park
The wildfire at the territory of Ile-Alatau National Park was quenched at 12:45 p.m., Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Agriculture Ministry. The area of 21 hectares has burned down. According to chairman of the Commission of Forestry and Hunting Management of Kazakhstan Agriculture Ministry Yerlan Nyssanbayev, all fire-fighting works will be completed by afternoon of August 25. The quenching operation involved personnel of Ile-Alatau National park, Kazavialesookhrana, Kazaviaspas, military base No.28237 of Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry, Ministry of Defense, administration of Ili region of Almaty oblast, Almaty Emergency Situations Department, as well as local residents. 710 people, 62 vehicles and 4 helicopters were involved. Almaty oblast territorial inspection of forestry and hunting management along with fire-fighting authorities of Almaty oblast started an investigation to identify the cause of the fire and evaluate the material damage caused to the national park. Lasting hot weather and presence of huge amounts of dry trees are considered the main cause of the fire. The fire on Mokhnatka Mount in the Ile-Alatau National Park in the vicinities of Almaty, Kazakhstan’s biggest city, was reported at about 10 p.m. August 22.
