Earthquake strikes popular resort in Turkey

Tengrinews.kz – A significant earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 struck Antalya, one of Turkey’s most popular tourist destinations.

According to Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the tremors were recorded at 13:21 local time. The epicenter was located in the Serik district, with the quake’s focus lying at a depth of 28.25 kilometers.

The tremors were felt not only in Serik but also in neighboring provinces, where residents reported brief vibrations in buildings. Local authorities have preliminarily assessed that there were no serious consequences from the earthquake.

"Based on the information received, no negative situations have been recorded. Our field inspections are ongoing. We express our condolences to all citizens affected by the earthquake," said the Antalya Governor’s office in a statement.
