Earthquake near Almaty on July 28 caused by industrial blast

The earthquake registered 20km from Almaty on July 28 was caused by a powerful industrial blast, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Center for Collection and Processing of Seismic Information of Kazakhstan Institute of Geophysical Research. “According to the updated information, this incident was caused by the 22-ton industrial blast at Kotur-Bulak pit,” the Center writes. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that 3.4-magnitude shocks were registered 20km from Almaty at 02:40 p.m. on July 28.
