Bridge keeps collapsing near Semei
The bridge in Kholodnyi Klyuch village in the suburbs of Semei is still in the emergency state, Tengrinews.kz reports. Dozens of people walk across the collapsing bridge every day. Local citizens are afraid that the bridge will collapse completely and people will get hurt. "When will it be repaired? The soil is dry already and we still walk on foot and carry small children across," people complain. All the public utilities services did was block the bridge with soil banks on both sides and installed restrictive signs. A detour road was recently built near the village's old cemetery but only light cars can drive it. The bridge cracked on March 16 and part of the road collapsed a day later. The bridge has been closed for traffic. Public transport only goes as far as the bridge and the passengers then cross the collapsed bridge on foot and take another bus.
