There is a large fire in Almaty storage area, Tengrinews reports. The fire started at about 3:00 p.m. and covered 2000 sq.m. of storages located on Auezov Str. at the crossing of Gogol Str. in Almaty. The roof to the facility partially collapsed. The flames were taken under control at 4:03 p.m. and extinguished completely at 16:43 p.m. Deputy Chief of the Firefighting Operation Viktor Kovalenko said that 80 firefighters, 11 fire engines and 3 auxiliary vehicles were involved in the firefighting operation. There were no casualties. The storage mostly contained liquors and other alcohol products. However, a women who rents 8 boxes (rooms) in the storage says she had household chemicals worth several million tenge there. The owner of the burnt down storage facility has not been found yet. According to Almaty Emergency Department the storage facility registered as FMCGs storage belongs to Karagai JSC. There are also storages of Bakhus liquor company and Kerama Marazzi ceramic tiles company at the crossing of the Auezov and Gogol streets, but no fire was reported at their territory. Preliminary causes of the inflammation are being identified by an investigation team.
