Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan has tightened control over the country’s airspace following the explosion of an unidentified drone in the Burlinsky district of the West Kazakhstan Region, the ministry said in a statement.

On October 23, fragments resembling parts of a drone were discovered in a remote area of the district. According to official data, the debris was found far from populated areas, and no casualties or damage were reported.

“The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan has taken additional measures to strengthen airspace monitoring and prevent unauthorized crossings of the state border by aerial objects. Consultations are underway with foreign partners who may potentially own the device,” the statement read.

The ministry confirmed that an explosion of an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle had been recorded, and investigative measures are ongoing to determine its origin and circumstances.

Local authorities, emergency services, and police officers were dispatched to the site.

Eyewitnesses reported a powerful blast near the village of Kyzyltal, with one local outlet, Uralskaya Nedelya, noting that “the drone appeared to carry a significant explosive payload, leaving a large crater after detonation”.

Earlier this year, in March, fragments of another unidentified UAV were found in the Zhanibek district of the same region. At that time, police also launched an investigation into the incident.
