Decryption of AN-72 onboard recorder started December 27

Kazakhstan experts started decrypting the onboard recorder of AN-72 on December 27, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Defense Ministry.

“The commission will have to perform the investigation at the area of around 2 hectares (20 thousand square meters). The onboard recorder was found intact. It was extracted. The experts will start decrypting the data,” the press-service stated.

According to the message the commission on investigation of the causes of the AN-72 airplane crash near Sairam village of South-Kazakhstan oblast was formed by the Defense Minister. It includes experts of the Defense Ministry and the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The commission is led by head of the Chief Department for Control over Flights Security of Kazakhstan State Aviation of Air Defense Forces Colonel Murat Kazhmuratov.

The AN-72 military plane of the Border Control Service of Kazakhstan National Security Commission crashed at 06:55 p.m. on December 25, 20km from Shymkent airport. The plane had 7 crew members and 20 militarymen onboard, including the acting head of the Border Control Service of Kazakhstan National Security Commission Turganbek Stambekov and his wife Saule.
