Sulphuric acid leaked from 60-ton cistern at the railroad station in Pavlodar, the press-service of Pavlodar Emergency Situations Department told Interfax-Kazakhstan today, on May 3. According to the department, the message on the leakage from the cistern of the train No.3475 traveling along Kulunda – Pavlodar – Kyzylorda route was received on Wednesday, May 2, at 8:32 p.m. from the station’s employee on duty. “The rescue team discovered an insignificant source of sulphuric acid leakage. The decision was made to dispatch the cistern to Pavlodarenergo to avoid pollution and occurrence of an emergency situation. Pavlodarenergo works with such chemicals and will drain the cistern,” the press-service stated. No casualties were reported.
