Fire-fighters are eliminating a dry grass fire in the mountains of Sarkand region of Almaty oblast, Tengrinews.kz reports citing regional Emergency Situations Department. According to the latest information, the fire started in the mountains near Ekiasha village. “There are currently 2 vehicles and 13 people working there. The citizens of the nearest village, around 150 people, are helping to quench the fire,” an officer on duty of Almaty oblast Emergency Situations Department said. Besides, local municipal forces have been dispatched to the accident site. “The administrations have sent tractors for fire line plowing,” he said. According to preliminary information, the fire have already covered the area of 40 hectares. There is no detailed information on the emergency situation yet. According to the source, the message on the fire was received at 07:45 a.m. on September 20. Oblast Emergency Situations Department also noted that this is the second fire in the mountains in one day. “Yesterday’s fire was quenched. That was another fire in another place,” the officer on duty said.
