The International Physics Olympiad will be held in Kazakhstan in 2014, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to Sholpan Kirabayeva, director of Daryn National Research and Practice Center. “This International Physics Olympiad is the oldest Olympiad. It was held in Estonia last year and will be held in Denmark this year. We are going to send a team of five best Kazakhstan physics students this year. Kazakhstan will host the Olympiad next year and it will be a grand event. 85 countries will participate in the Olympiad and every team will consist of 5 people,” Sholpan Kirabayeva said. Kirabayeva said that the prize-winners of the Olympiad will be awarded with diplomas and traditional medals by the organizers of the event. The Ministry’s of Education experts expect that more than 500 people will come to Kazakhstan. The director also said that the International Organizing Committee has made a decision that the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) will be held in Astana in 2015. “Members of the Kazakhstan national teams study Science and Mathematics under the guidance of national and foreign experts during the academic year. Kazakhstan’s schoolchildren won 161 gold, 295 silver, 397 bronze medals and 35 Diplomas at different International Olympiads and Science tournaments of General Subjects.
