Tengrinews.kz - Typhoon Yagi, which struck Vietnam, continues to wreak havoc even days after making landfall. Approximately 200 people have died, according to VNExpress.

The heavy rains brought by Yagi have caused flooding in the northern part of the country.

According to state media reports, the flooding and landslides have resulted in the deaths of 197 people and injuries to more than 800.

Previously missing residents of the village of Ho Vong have been found in the mountains. They had to flee into the mountains at night, fearing an approaching landslide. Provincial authorities are seeking ways to deliver food to them.

On Tuesday, a sudden flood swept away the entire village of Lang Nu in Lao Cai province in northern Vietnam. By Wednesday morning, rescuers had brought the survivors to safety, but 53 villagers are still missing.

On August 15, a case was also recorded where Typhoon Ampil rapidly intensified in the Pacific Ocean and was moving north towards Japan.
