Tengrinews.kz – A TV news anchor in Istanbul was caught on camera reacting to a powerful earthquake during a live broadcast, as tremors rocked the city and sent shockwaves across.
A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck earlier today in the Marmara Sea, with the epicenter located about 26 kilometers south of Silivri, near Istanbul. The initial tremor was followed by at least two aftershocks - measuring 5.0 and 5.3 - and local media report a total of five quakes hitting the region within the past hour.
One widely circulated video shows a visibly startled presenter mid-broadcast as the studio begins to shake. Despite the tremors, she quickly composes herself and continues reporting, embodying calm under pressure.

No casualties have been reported so far, but preliminary information points to damage in parts of the city. In Istanbul’s Fatih district, an abandoned three-story building reportedly collapsed. Most residents have evacuated to the streets as aftershocks continue.

The memory of the February 6, 2023 disaster still looms large in Turkey. On that day, two massive earthquakes - magnitudes 7.8 and 7.5 - devastated southeastern regions of the country. The catastrophe claimed over 50,000 lives in Turkey and more than 8,000 in Syria, prompting a national emergency and week-long mourning.
Authorities are urging Istanbul residents to remain alert and follow safety instructions as aftershocks persist.
