95 houses were flooded in South-Kazakhstan oblast as of February 23, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry. "1,389 yards were inspected in Ordabasinskiy region on February 23. 95 houses and 223 yards were flooded, 3 houses 22 utility buildings were damaged. 37 people were evacuated from 10 houses. 67 families (280 people) were evacuated since the beginning of the flood," the Ministry's message states. According to the Ministry, the water is being pumped out and away from flooded territories in Temirlan and Yntaly villages. Rescue units and local executive bodies continue elimination of the flood's consequences. Bozsauyrat channel was cleaned out in Shymkent and its shores were reinforced; the channel for re-direction of melt waters was built. "The rescue teams eliminated ice block on Arys river with the use of floating equipment and powersaws. The dam on the bypass channel 120 meters from the Arys River was restored. 2,275 people and 125 vehicles, including 2 helicopters and 1 aircraft of Kazakhstan Emergency Situations Ministry are involved in elimination of the emergency situation. The situation is under control," the Ministry stated.
