The storm is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to Izu, Kanto, and Tohoku. Although a direct landfall is not forecasted, these areas will experience strong winds and rough seas from Thursday to Saturday, with rainfall potentially reaching up to 200 millimeters within 24 hours.

Ampil is expected to approach Kanto and Tohoku on Friday and may become a "very strong" storm. Authorities are warning about strong winds, high waves, landslides, and flooding in low-lying areas.

On Friday, high-speed train services in eastern Japan will be suspended, and the number of regular trains will be reduced. Significant delays and cancellations are expected.

Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways have already canceled 600 flights to and from Haneda and Narita airports by Thursday evening.

As of 4:00 PM Thursday, Typhoon Ampil was moving north at 15 km/h with a pressure of 965 hPa. Wind speeds at the center could reach up to 216 km/h, with waves up to 10 meters. Strong winds, heavy rain, and a risk of flooding are expected in the eastern regions of Japan on Friday and Saturday.
