A 4-magnitude earthquake has stroke 28km south-west of Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing European-Mediterranean Seismological Center. The shocks were registered at 04:03 p.m. Astana time. The epicenter was 2km deep. Another earthquake was registered at 02:57 p.m. Astana time. The epicenter of the 5-magnitude shocks was 261km east of Almaty at the depth of 5km. But Almaty Oblast Emergency Situations Department says that the epicenter was 226km south-east of Almaty. The shaking was felt like a 2-3 magnitude quake in Almaty city. On January 28 Almaty was stroke by a nearby 6.3-magnitude earthquake at 10:38 p.m. The shocks were felt as 4-5-magnitude ones in Almaty. The quake was followed by 7 aftershocks of less magnitude. A 4.5-magnitude earthquake was registered at 23.09 Astana time 225 km to the south-east of Almaty. Then a 4.7 earthquake was registered at 23.12 232 km to the south-east of Almaty and a 5.1 earthquake at 23.31 225 km south east of Almaty. The next 4.4-magnitude quake happened at 00:49 a.m. Astana time. The epicenter was 243km east of Almaty. It was followed by a 4.4-magnitude quake at 01:11 a.m. at the territory of Kyrgyzstan 237km south-east of Almaty and a 4.5-magnitude earthquake at 01:47 a.m. 237km south-east of Almaty. The last quake was registered at 02:37 236km east of Almaty.
