VK, Odnoklassniki and Mail.ru removed from the App Store

Tengrinews.kz — VK apps, including VK Music, VK Messenger, VK Video, and the flagship VKontakte app, are no longer available on the App Store. Other apps from the ecosystem, such as Odnoklassniki, Zen, and Mail.ru, have also vanished from Apple's app store. This was reported by the VK press office.

Which apps are unavailable

According to the company, VK group apps can no longer be downloaded or updated on Apple devices via the App Store. The restrictions have affected several popular services simultaneously: VK, VK Music, VK Messenger, VK Video, Odnoklassniki, Zen, and Mail.ru.

VK noted that the removal occurred without prior notice from Apple.

VK's response

The company stated that it is not under sanctions and believes Apple's decision restricts user access to high-demand digital services.

"Apple unilaterally removed VK apps without warning. By doing so, Apple is restricting users' access to essential services used daily by tens of millions: social networks, messengers, video platforms, email, and educational products," VK stated.

What this means for users

The company warned that the removal of the apps could impact the notification system.

"Apple's actions mean that users will no longer receive push notifications for messages and important events," VK said in a statement.

However, the company emphasized that apps already installed on iPhones and other Apple devices will continue to function.

VK also announced it is taking measures to maintain user access to its services.

Where VK apps remain available

VK services continue to operate without restrictions for Android smartphone owners. Updates, notifications, and all other app features remain available to these users.

The company noted that apps can still be downloaded through Google Play, Huawei AppGallery, Samsung Store, Xiaomi Store, and the official websites of the respective products.

Earlier this month, the Max messenger also became unavailable for download via the App Store.

As of publication, VK continues to keep users informed about available ways to use its services on both Apple and Android devices.
