“A brown bear is walking along the road toward Akzhailau–Terekty. It seems like it does not know what to do and is circling aimlessly in one spot. It is unclear whether this is due to the heat or whether the animal is ill. From the outside, it looks as if the bear is asking for help,” the post says.

Another video shows the bear circling near motorcycles. Later, the authors of the video approached the weakened animal and, judging by the footage, took a photo with the tired predator.

What the akimat said

We contacted the akimat of Markakol district in East Kazakhstan Region for comment, where officials confirmed that the information about the bear’s appearance was true.

“On July 16, 2026, due to the appearance of a bear on the road between the villages of Akzhailau and Urunkhaika, employees of the Markakol forestry service and the Markakol district police department are currently working at the scene,” the press service noted.

The bear later left on its own toward the mountainous area.

“At the moment, the bear has gone toward the mountainous area. In addition, police officers are carrying out explanatory work on safety measures among local residents and drivers traveling along this section of the road,” the department said.

According to the latest information, no one was injured as a result of the predator’s appearance.

Bears appearing near people in the region is not uncommon. However, such encounters do not always end peacefully.
