Kazakhstan invited the UN experts to take part in the investigation of Zhanaozen clashes, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan General Prosecution office. General Prosecutor Askhat Daulbayev met with the Regional Representative of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Central Asia Armen Harutyunyan. “The parties discussed several issues of bilateral legal cooperation. Special attention was given to protection of human rights. Kazakhstan General Prosecutor informed the counterpart on the current situation in Zhanaozen, on measures taken for stabilization and restoration of the town. Askhat Daulbayev noted openness and transparency of the activities of prosecutors and invited the UN experts to take part in the investigation. Thanking for a warm reception, Armen Harutyunyan noted importance of the measures taken to restore the town and ensure legitimacy,” press-service stated. Clashes happened in Zhanaozen on December 16. 14 people fell victims to the riots.
