Tengrinews.kz - One person has died and 60 others have been injured following a malfunction of a tourist escalator at the Detian Waterfall in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of southern China. The park administration, where the waterfall is located, reported the incident on the social media platform WeChat.
The tragedy occurred on the evening of Saturday, August 10. According to the administration, the escalator, which is used for viewing the waterfall and referred to as the "Magic Carpet," malfunctioned while tourists were ascending.
"As a result of the incident, one tourist was killed and 60 others were injured, with one sustaining serious injuries and the remaining 59 having minor injuries," the administration's statement said.
Emergency services and fire brigades arrived at the scene promptly, and medical assistance was provided to the injured.
The Detian Waterfall, located on the border between China and Vietnam, is the largest waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest in the world.
