Tengrinews.kz – Special forces in the Zhetysu region detained a criminal group involved in large-scale cattle theft, the Interior Ministry reported.
According to Polisia.kz, the operation was carried out on September 9 with the participation of prosecutors as part of the nationwide preventive campaign "Uchastok".
Investigators found that the suspects had stolen 43 head of cattle from a local farm. Police detained three men in an abandoned house, where officers discovered 28 live animals and 15 carcasses. They also seized six knives and three pieces of rope used in the thefts.
All detainees have been placed in custody, while a search is underway for three more suspects.
The Interior Ministry noted that the "Uchastok" campaign continues across the region with the aim of improving public safety, strengthening trust in law enforcement, and preventing crime.
Earlier, in the village of Saikhin in West Kazakhstan region, police detained another group suspected of stealing 49 head of cattle between November 2024 and June 2025, causing damage estimated at 20 million tenge.
