Kazakh man jailed for 18 years for a box of drugs from Sweden

Tengrinews.kz - A specialized inter-district criminal court in Astana has sentenced a defendant involved in an international drug trafficking scheme.
The convicted individual was found guilty of organizing the transport of 479 grams of hashish, a particularly large quantity, from Sweden, hidden in a document box. The drugs were intended for storage and distribution among drug users via a system of stashes.
In court, the state prosecutor provided indisputable evidence of his guilt. Thanks to the prompt actions of law enforcement agencies, the distribution of more than 500 doses of drugs were prevented.
"The trial took place with the participation of a jury, which unanimously found the defendant guilty. The court sentenced him to 18 years in prison. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force," the prosecutor's office said.
Earlier, it was reported that a drug trafficker set fire to a car in front of police officers in the Zhambyl region.
