Tengrinews.kz - A specialized interdistrict criminal court in the Zhetisu region reviewed a case involving two defendants charged with manufacturing and storing a large quantity of a mephedrone analog.
According to the court's press service, in December 2023, a Kazakh and an Uzbek citizen, in collaboration with an unidentified individual, organized a drug lab in the city of Tekeli. They communicated via messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.
"In this lab, they produced a psychotropic substance - an analog of mephedrone - and stored it with the intent to distribute. The quantity of the substance exceeded three kilograms," stated the press release.
The defendants' guilt was confirmed through witness testimonies, expert analyses, and other case materials. The court took into account the severe nature of the crime, classifying it as a particularly grave offense with significant social danger.
"The court found the defendants guilty as charged and sentenced them to 10 years in prison," the press service clarified.
The verdict is not yet legally binding.
