"By the ruling of the Khromtau district court judge on August 9, 2024, the request of the investigation authorities for detention in custody was granted. The measure of detention is in effect until the end of the investigation," stated the court’s press service.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck driver veered into the oncoming lane.

In a separate incident later the same day on the same highway, another crash near Bekkul Baba village resulted in additional fatalities and injuries.

On August 7, a tragic collision between a truck and a minivan on the Samara-Shymkent highway in Aktobe region resulted in the deaths of all eight individuals in the minivan, including five children.
