Tengrinews.kz – Former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev will not fall under the recent amnesty initiative in Kazakhstan, according to Deputy Prosecutor General Asset Chindaliyev.
Speaking to journalists in the Mazhilis, Chindaliyev clarified that individuals convicted of crimes resulting in death are categorically excluded from amnesty provisions.
"He will not be eligible. We just discussed this with MPs in the context of traffic accidents. They asked whether those responsible for fatal accidents due to negligence could be granted amnesty. The stance of the law’s drafters is clear: any crime resulting in death should not be covered by amnesty," Chindaliyev said.
On May 13, 2024, a court in Astana found Bishimbayev guilty of torturing and murdering his wife, Saltanat Nukenova. He was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
