Tengrinews.kz - The Shymkent Health Department has provided an update on the condition of a three-month-old girl who was severely injured by her father.
According to the city's health department, the infant is in the intensive care unit of the city's children's clinical hospital, with her condition being classified as critical due to a congenital condition - hydrocephalus.
"She has been diagnosed with a brain contusion, a linear fracture of the left parietal bone, and an epidural hematoma in the left hemisphere of the brain. Additionally, there are bruises on her neck, back, and pelvis," the department reported.
The baby is under constant medical supervision.
Earlier, a 53-year-old man from Shymkent was reported to have assaulted his wife, threatened her with a knife, and then kicked their three-month-old daughter. The child was hospitalized and placed in intensive care, where it was discovered she had suffered a brain hemorrhage. Disturbing footage of the aftermath of the abuse was circulated on social media.
An investigation into the incident has been launched, and the suspect is currently in custody.
