"The General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan has extradited a citizen of Kyrgyzstan from Russia to face criminal charges for smuggling drugs on a particularly large scale," the prosecutor's office stated in a messange.
According to the investigation, in June of last year, the suspect organized the smuggling of approximately 60 kg of heroin and over 10 kg of hashish through several countries as part of a group acting in collusion.
During the pre-trial investigation, the suspect was placed on an international wanted list. In August of last year, he was detained in Moscow and subsequently extradited to Kazakhstan at the request of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic og Kazakhstan.
The suspect is currently being held in a detention facility.
This crime is punishable by 15 to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment, with confiscation of property.
Previously, foreigners attempted to smuggle a record batch of drugs across the border.
