Linda and Joseph Mayotte
Worcester Superior Court has sentenced the Northbridge couple convicted of raping their children adopted from Kazakhstan to nearly 20 years in jail each, The Milford Daily News writes. 49-y.o. Linda Mayotte was sentenced to 18 to 22 years in MCI Framingham and her husband, 50-y.o. Joseph Mayotte, will serve 16 to 20 years in MCI Cedar Junction. On August 8 the jury of Worcester Superior Court found Joseph and Linda Mayotte guilty of abusing their children. 50-y.o. Joseph Mayotte was found guilty of his daughter’s rape aggravated by age difference, indecent assault, assault with intent to rape, distribution of materials hazardous for a child (i.e. watching pornography in the girl's presence) and unlawful possession of a firearm. The firearm was found in Mayottes’ house during his wife’s apprehension in 2009. 49-y.o. Linda Mayotte was found guilty of raping her adopted son, indecent assault, battery, morals offense, reckless endangerment of a child, intimidation of a witness, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm. The juries found Mr. Mayotte not guilty of intimidation of a witness and his wife was found not guilty of assault with intent to rape. “Let them burn in hell,” said the male victim who is now 21. “I’ll slowly begin healing knowing they can’t harm us or any other innocent child again,” said the female victim who is now 17. The children were adopted from Kazakhstan orphanage located in the city of Petropavlovsk and came to Whitinsville in 2004 at the age of 8 (girl) and 13 (boy). The now 17-y.o. girl testified against her adoptive father during the jury trial. She told the juries that the father started sleeping in the same bed with her when she was 8, just one month after she was adopted. According to the victim, several months later Joseph started touching her inappropriately. Later the father started other forms of sexual activities with her, despite of her resistance. Her brother testified that Linda Mayotte sexually abused him from 2005 to 2007. The abuse only stopped when she became pregnant with his child. DNA test confirmed that he was the child's father. The District Attorney Joseph Early, Jr. said after the sentencing: “These two children came here to live the American dream, but their trust was broken by these two plaintiffs. Now justice has been served.”
