7 instigators of Zhanaozen clashes identified

7 organizers of Zhanaozen clashes have been identified, Tengrinews.kz reports from the briefing in Kazakhstan General Prosecutor’s office. “We have identified and brought to liability 7 organizers of Zhanaozen clashes, 36 active members of the riots and robberies. 29 of them were arrested and 14 signed the recognizance not to leave. Heads and employees of Mangistau oblast Interior Department, former officials of local executive bodies and top-managers of oil companies were brought to liability under different charges,” official representative of the General Prosecutor’s office Nurdaulet Suindikov said. According to the investigators, the buildings in the area of Zhanaozen main square were checked and 1,128 people were interrogated. “Unfortunately, despite of the messages in local media, we found no active civil position and support among the population. At the same time there are active communications between alleged witnesses of some events with the representatives of media and public organizations,” Suindikov said. According to him, some of these witnesses give media “hot news” for certain money.
