Responding to journalists' questions at a briefing by the Central Communications Service, Ospanova said that the minor suspect is currently in a psychiatric hospital.

"A criminal case has been initiated. The incident occurred at home with a minor relative in October 2023. The minor is in a psychiatric hospital, examinations are underway. The case is under control of the Committee for children rights protection", commented Ospanova.

She added that the 12-year-old girl will continue her education at school, with support including psychological and pedagogical assistance.

"Assistance will be provided: both psychological and pedagogical, among other things. Children's rights to education are protected by the Constitution," the committee chairwoman summarised.

12-year-old girl became pregnant following a rape incident. She will turn 13 in a few weeks. The criminal investigation into the rape is ongoing, with the 17-year-old relative suspected and detained in April.

New details have emerged regarding the life of a 12-year-old schoolgirl who gave birth to a child in the Pavlodar region after being raped. The young mother may not return to her previous home with her parents due to the poor living conditions.
