340 foreign citizens have been deported from Atyrau oblast in western Kazakhstan for violation of the migration legislation since the beginning of the year, KazTAG reports citing assistant to Atyrau oblast prosecutor Maksat Yermekov. “340 foreign citizens employed at the North-Caspian project have been deported from Kazakhstan for violation of the migration legislation since the beginning of the year,” Yermekov said. According to him, the most frequent violations include sham replacement of foreign employees with local personnel (to meet the Kazakhstan government's requirement for local content), as well as employment of the foreign citizens at the positions different from those declared in their work permits. “Such violations result in termination of work permits for the foreigners. Kazmunaiservices & Contracting has had 237 of its work permits terminated and Caspian Marian Services has got 103 of them terminated,” Yermekov said. These companies are involved in the North-Caspian project at West Yeskene (Karabatan) field.
