In August 2010 he was appointed Director General of Rompetrol Rafinare S.A. According to AkZhaiyk magazine, rumors of Talgat Baitaziyev's resignation had been spreading in the region for several months. The magazine’s sources say that Baitaziyev was “asked” to resign. The magazine writes that the new head of Atyrau refinery earlier took part in modernization of Rompetrol's facilities that enable it to increase its capacity from 3.5 million tons to 5 million tons and switch to production of Euro-5 fuel. “Perhaps, this is the reason why he was appointed director of Atyrau Oil Refinery,” Ak Zhaiyk writes.
