Air Astana has been recognized Airline Market Leader at the 41st annual ceremony of Air Transport World Awards.
At the ceremony held on February 25 in Washington, DC, president of Air Astana Peter Foster accepted the award on behalf of 4,300 employees of the party Kazakh owned company, and noted that the achievements of the airline over the past 12 years had been a "remarkable journey".
Foster said that Air Astana was the youngest airline to win such recognition.
Speaking to hundreds of representatives of the airline industry, the head of Air Astana said he was proud of the recognition of merits of such a young company and thanked Kazakhstanis for their support.
Air Transport World Editor in Chief Karen Walker praised the creativity, commitment to success and consistent profitable performance of the company.
Since its inception in 2002 with an initial investment of $17 million, the airline has been profitable every year, without additional investments or guarantees. Meanwhile, the air carrier has built up a modern, western fleet with five years an average aircraft age.
ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards is one of the most prestigious in the aviation industry. Winners of this year’s awards also include Heathrow Airport/Star Alliance, Boeing and Lufthansa.
