“Myn Bala” is worth being screened all over the world: Wolfgang Petersen

German filmmaker, screenwriter and producer Wolfgang Petersen who came to Almaty for the annual International Eurasia Film Festival said that Kazakhstan movie Zhauzhurek Myn Bala (1000 Brave Boys) was a bright film that was worth being released in other countries, Tengrinews.kz reports. “I think this is a beautiful movie and Kazakhstan citizens should be proud of it. As far as I know German distributors have already purchased the rights to this movie. The film is indeed worth being screened all over the world,” Troy director said at the press-conference in Almaty. Petersen also said that he had watched several Kazakhstan movies and added that he might be interested in invite one of Kazakhstan actors to place a part in his movie. “I have learned more about Kazakhstan when I watched a boxing bout of one Kazakhstan boxers,” Petersen said. “Then I realized that that boxer represented the might of the whole Kazakhstan. This inspired my respect.” He said that “economically developed Kazakhstan has a similarly great film-making potential as those of other developed countries.” German filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen is a famous director of Troy, Poseidon, The Perfect Storm, The Boat and Tatort TV Series. The filmmaker said that he was working on a science fiction movie about space called Ghost Brigades. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Petersen chaired the jury of the 8th Eurasia Film Festival. Amir Karakulov represented Kazakhstan in the jury. His Virtual Love was screened at the opening ceremony of the Film Festival that was held on September 17 at Almaty Republic Palace.
